Summer Movie Trailers

May 14, 2008

To View Trailers, click the movie title.  These are the trailers I fancy so far.

Then She Found Me

This looks appealing on casting alone.  It’s a film by Helen Hunt with co-stars Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler, and Colin Firth.  It’s about a A New York schoolteacher hits a midlife crisis when, in quick succession, her husband leaves, her adoptive mother dies and her real one finds her and she finds herself at 39 pregnant.

BAGHEAD

Four film students head to a cabin in the woods away from the world to film their own independant movie.  The idea is suggested it be a horror film about a guy wearing a bag over his head.  It came from one of the girls dreams.  This film which happens to be an independent film itself seems to have a sense of humour about itself and be at the very least an interesting watch.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian

If you enjoyed the first one, all hail the return of Lucy, Peter, Susan, Edmund, Aslan, and the White Witch 1000 years into Narnia’s future.  Add new hero: Prince Caspian and an unforgettable adventure seems to be in the waiting.

The Children Of Huang Shi

It’s about a young British journalist, George Hogg, who with the assistance of a courageous Australian nurse, saves a group of orphaned children during the Japanese occupation of China in 1937.  It stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Chow Yun-Fat, Michelle Yeoh, and Radha Mitchell.  Looks VERY promising.

Hamlet 2

In this irreverent comedy, a failed actor-turned-worse-high-school-drama teacher  rallies his Tucson, AZ students as he conceives and stages a politically incorrect musical sequel to Shakespeare’s Hamlet.  From the co-writer of South Park and Team America this film looks nothing short of outrageously silly and funny.  This looks like a winner! The film stars Steve Coogan, Catherine Keener, David Arquette, Elizabeth Shue, and Amy Poehlar.

The Incredible Hulk

I was not too excited about another Hulk movie.  The first with Connelly and Bana was ok, but not what I would consider an excellent film, but bring in Ed Norton to play Bruce Banner and add in Tim Roth as the villain with a fresh new script and the trailer that looks absolutely phenomenal.  Well, June 13th is going to be an exciting day.

Mongol

“Greatness comes to those who take it.”

The story recounts the early life of Genghis Khan who was a slave before going on to conquer half the world including Russia in 1206.  Simply, this looks AMAZING.  It was released in Russia last year but appears to be on it’s way to the West.

Smart People

With Ellen Page, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dennis Quaid, and Thomas Hayden Church, this quirky looking film looks inviting for the cast alone, but the dialouge looks rich and the characters fun and ready to evolve.  I will probably wait for DVD for this one, but it looks good nonetheless.

Sex And The City

So nervous, yet so excited.  Carrie’s getting married?  All is not happy though, some massive conflict seems arise.  I simply hope the film ends as graciously as the show did.
