Christian Bale Accused Of Assault

July 26, 2008

Apparently, the weekend of The Dark Knight premiere Christian Bale has been accused of assaulting his own mother and sister outside the Dorchester Hotel.  It’s been widely circulated that he was estranged from both as years before he took his father’s side in a messy divorce, and the family has never been able to reconcile.  Bale, who is very private was not charged with any crime by the London police after he was questioned.  He will eventually return pending further inquiries, but thusfar seems to be tossed aside with the actors response denying any assault occured.  Sounds like mom and sis may be out to either defame the estranged son/brother or perhaps encourage some of his success be tossed their way.  What an inappropriate, and terrible thing to happen during what should have been such a happy moment in Bale’s career.  Sounds like the case is close and Bale has some nasty and vindictive relatives.

Bale attended the premiere with his wife whom he shares a three year old daughter with.

assault w/o battery must mean that he verbally hurt them..? is that right or am I misunderstanding how that works?

I think that’s correct. From what I understand it was just a verbal altercation, but as far as I knew, at least in the U.S. you couldn’t be arrested for it, otherwise 99.9% of the population would be in jail or fined. But I’m not sure how it all works in the UK. I’m sure we’ll hear more as time allows.

it’s too bad that people keep bothering Christian Bale about these rumors, he seems like a solid guy in general
